Summary:
The African languages that have been defined by European colonialists happened because of the
influence the Europeans had on the Xhosa language caused by the fact that some European countries took
control of the countries and decided to change up their cultures. The main idea of this article is that students and other Africans have lost their mother tongue and are protesting against it. After the countries heard the concerns, they decided to teach Xhosa in school from age nine so that they wouldn’t lose their language. Some students and people also projected their thoughts and feelings by protesting against the colonists in their home countries to try to make the European colonists change their mind about making the Africans adjust to the European's way of living.

Analysis:
I agree with this because people should have the right to be able to speak their original language because it’s a part of where they’re from, their cultures, and their way of living. I believe that it was wrong of the European colonialists to interfere with their language and take over their cultures without knowing them because the Europeans had nothing to do with it in the first place. I think it was unnecessary to do what the European colonists did since they didn’t earn anything from it and there’s no reason for them to do what they did. Yet to this day, this still affects some countries in Africa and most of the citizens don't or can’t speak Xhosa or their original language.
Discussion question(s):
Why do you think the European colonists decided to change their language, culture, etc?
