Summary:- Desertification is happening in Senegal and there are no trees and the land is becoming a desert because there had been no rain for a long time. In the beginning, the vegetation was very dense and was very fertile but in the past few years because of no rain the harvest is not being very good and the land is becoming infertile so the people are not able to grow good crops. There is no grass so animals are starving. Land degradation affects 1.5 billion people. Desertification is the degradation of dryland ecosystem by human activities and climate change. Each year 12 million hectares of land are lost. People are living off the land. People are forced to migrate to other countries. The Great Green Wall organization is planting trees. People are moving to Dakar because they cannot live off the land.
Analysis:- I feel very bad for the people because they have to live off the land and they don’t get rain and they can’t do agriculture so they are not having anything to eat or survive. Africa is becoming dessert day by day. They should plant trees so that the desertification stops and trees will help to get rain for agriculture. The people would have to migrate to other countries if they would get rain because then they will have something to eat and survive and wouldn’t have to starve.
